que no, que no, que avui parlem de collons, testicles, ous o nacasones. Tot i que podem estar més o menys acostumats a veure un parell d'ous penjant i haver-ho assimilat com a quelcom quotidià, molts encara es pregunten perquè es troben tan exposats dins la bossa escrotal. I és que es tracta d'una part de la nostra anatomia que, tot i ser objectivament lletja, és extremadament important, doncs potser no és indispensable per la nostra supervivència, però sí per la supervivència de la nostra espècie. De fet, en aquesta estranya carrera que és la vida al nostre planeta (entenent vida com a conjunt d'espècies, no la vida d'una persona amb els seus objectius, aspiracions, somnis i tot això), l'únic que importa és la reproducció, el manteniment de l'espècie. Vist així, no som més que un aparell reproductiu rodejat de tota una parafernàlia que el permet sobreviure a l'ambient per poder tindre descendència. Llavors perquè collons tenim els mascles un òrgan tan important penjant entre les cames? Perquè està tan exposat, fent-lo vulnerable a tot un munt d'amenaces?
A un article recent publicat al Journal of Psychology, en Gordon Callup fa un repàs a diferents hipòtesis que intenten explicar el perquè d'aquest fet. En general s'accepta que es tracta d'una forma de mantindre la temperatura dels testicles per sota de la temperatura corporal. De fet, mentre que el nostre cos està a una temperatura que ronda els 36 ºC, els testicles humans es troben entre 2.5 i 3 ºC per sota de la temperatura corporal. Això s'aconsegueix gràcies a la separació de la resta del cos que suposa la bossa escrotal, però també perquè les artèries que porten la sang als testicles es troben just al costat de les venes que s'emporten la sang de retorn cap al cor. Així es crea un intercanvi de calor en el que la sang venosa refredarà la sang que va cap als testicles per les artèries. Per altra banda, quan fa fred els testicles pugen, s'apropen cap al cos per mantindre la temperatura i no refredar-se massa gràcies a l'acció del múscul cremasteric.
Però perquè cal aquest manteniment tan exhaustiu de la temperatura? Una de les raons és que l'espermatogènesi, el procés que resulta en la generació d'espermatozous, és molt més eficient a 34 ºC. Tot això vol dir dues coses: primer, que en la situació en la que es troben els testicles produïm esperma amb més eficiència i, segon, que si enxampes la grip no t'has de posar el termòmetre als cataplins per mirar si tens febre.
Però no és només l'espermatogènesi el que determina la temperatura necessària dels testicles, sinó els mateixos espermatozous. Quan aquests capgrossos microscòpics es troben a 36 ºC entren en hiperactivitat i es mouen frenèticament. Això està molt bé si han d'iniciar una carrera cap a l'òvul, però el problema és que aquesta hiperactivitat els dura molt poc temps, entre 50 minuts i 4 hores, curiosament el temps que es triga en viatjar pel tracte reproductiu de la dona i fertilitzar l'òvul. Si es trobessin sempre a 36 ºC gastarien l'energia immediatament i a l'hora de la veritat, al moment de l'ejaculació, sortirien cansats i caurien com a mosques abans d'arribar a l'òvul. No obstant, a temperatures inferiors els espermatozous estan relaxats, fan unes cerveses i xerren de dones, reservant l'energia pel moment de la fecundació.
Així, segons la hipòtesi de l'activació, tindre els ous penjant és necessari per produir l'esperma i mantindre'l inactiu fins al moment de la fecundació...

kika, molt bona pregunta. Suposo que no ha passat així o bé perquè en la situació en la que estan donen algun avantatge evolutiu, o senzillament perquè no representen un desavantatge real malgrat estar exposats i no hi ha hagut la necessitat.
No sé si em deixo alguna explicació més raonable, potser algun dels experts en evolució i aquestes coses que es passin per aquí ens ho pot aclarir :-)
